There has been significant debate in recent times surrounding the classification of NFTs and whether or not they are securities.

While NFTs involving linked art alone are more akin to a collectible, the rights attached can mean that they may take on attributes of a financial product.

OpenSea, one of the world's largest NFT marketplaces, stopped the trading of the DAO Turtles project due to "financialization concerns" amidst uncertainties about whether or not these assets can be considered securities.
